LTC (ret) Barry Bazemore
Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Barry Bazemore married his high school sweetheart, Carol, shortly after graduating from West Point. Retiring after almost 37 years in the armed forces and federal civil service, in 2018 they settled in their hometown, now enjoying travelling with friends and classmates, visiting their three children and nine grandchildren, and re-establishing old friendships and starting new ones back home.
After serving on active duty over 24 years as an Aviation Officer and Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA), Barry served another 13 years as an Operations Research Analyst and Cybersecurity/Information Assurance Manager in the federal civil service. His aviation experience involved institutional training, requirements development, and operational assignments to air cavalry and attack helicopter units in the 172d Infantry Brigade, 6th Infantry Division, 101stInfantry Division and the US Army Aviation Center. He qualified as pilot in the UH-1 (Huey) and AH-1 (Cobra), and as instructor pilot in the AH-64 (Apache) helicopters. As an operations research leader, he managed programs of analysis and study efforts to determine how the Army would invest, organize, and operate. He served as an ORSA in two of the Army’s premier analysis organizations, the Concept Analysis Agency (CAA) and the TRADOC Analysis Center (TRAC), as well as with the US Atlantic, subsequently, Joint Forces Command, the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

His Army War College strategy research project report, ‘Analysis of Alternatives Mandate for the Milestone A Decision’, under the tutelage of USMA classmate, Professor Louis G. Yuengert, explored the implications of the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act (WSARA) of 2009. DTIC ADA588569.
Its alumni association inducted Barry into the Hixson High School Hall of Fame in 2005.
He is a long-time member of the Officers’ Christian Fellowship (OCF) organization.
In addition to actively following the KCBS competition barbecue circuit, Barry and Carol continue efforts to be responsible hobbyist beekeepers as they pursue their goal of becoming gentleman/gentlewoman farmers.
