LTC (ret) Bryan Dohrn
Upon Graduation from West Point and Commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in Infantry in 1981, Bryan served as a Platoon Leader in the 82d Airborne Division. After two years, he transferred to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, as the Detachment Commander of ODA 574. He served in Korea on the Headquarters (HQ) 8th U.S. Army Staff as the Chief of Individual Training for one year, before rotating back to Ft. Bragg as a Senior Instructor and Company Executive Officer in the Advanced Skills Division of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.
He began Foreign Area Officer (FAO) training in 1990, attending the Defense Language Institute, the University of Hawaii, and an assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, to become a qualified Northeast Asia FAO. Bryan then served as a Company Commander in 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group in Torii Station, Okinawa. In 1996, he moved back to Hawaii, serving in the HQ, U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) as a regional Desk Officer for Northeast Asia and Oceania, followed by assignment to the Joint Intelligence Center-Pacific (JICPAC) at Pearl Harbor as the senior Korea Intelligence Analyst. Bryan’s last Active Duty assignment was as the Chief, International Military Affairs at HQ USARPAC, retiring in 2001 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Bryan followed his Army career with 17 years of Federal service as a Marine Corps civilian at Marine Forces Pacific in G-3 Future Operations; as the Senior Northeast Asia Intelligence Analyst at JICPAC; Chief, Intelligence Plans and Programs at Joint Interagency Task Force-West; and finally retiring again as the Cyber Threat Intelligence Manager for the Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Bryan and his wife, Linda, are retired in Merritt Island, Florida. Linda also served in the Army, both as Enlisted and as an Officer (OCS). They are most proud of their son, Jake, and his wife, Monica, both USMA 2019 graduates, and their two grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with USMA classmates and many other lifelong friends, and traveling with their furry Lab Retriever kids.
