COL (Ret) (USAR) Dave Mead
History:
Dave’s story begins with a childhood shaped by constant change. As the son of an Army officer and West Point graduate, he moved thirteen times in his first eighteen years—including attending three different high schools. Those early transitions left him feeling unanchored, unsure of who he was or where he belonged.
Everything began to shift when Dave entered the Army in 1976. What started as a search for direction became a calling that would span more than four decades of service to others. He served 31 years in uniform leading at the Company, Battalion, and Brigade levels. His final military assignment brought him to the U.S. Army War College, where he invested in the next generation as a faculty member at the Center of Strategic Leadership. Along the way, Dave earned his Ranger, Airborne, and Air Assault qualifications.
At the same time, Dave’s life has been deeply rooted in faith and ministry. For 38 years, he has been part of The Navigators, serving alongside his wife and children in places as diverse as Vanderbilt University, France, West Point, and Colorado Springs. These experiences shaped not just what Dave did, but who he became—a man committed to helping others find identity and connection.
In 2017, Dave founded WeAlign Coaching, a strength-based, relationship-focused coaching practice. As an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach (PCC), he has walked with hundreds of clients, helping them better understand their “being” (identity) and “belonging” (community) by aligning with how they were uniquely designed.
Dave’s leadership extends into many areas of life. He is a Distinguished Toastmaster and serves as Chairman of the Board for the Caribbean Ministries Association. But beyond titles and accomplishments, what stands out most is his life of relationships. Dave is married to Melody, and together they have two children and six grandchildren. He often describes himself simply as a man rich in relationships—and deeply grateful for a life he considers blessed beyond measure.
Education:
