Born in Braintree, Massachusetts, Gail O’Sullivan Dwyer graduated from West Point in 1981, served five years active duty as a Military Intelligence Officer, and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 2003. She married her husband, Steve (West Point ’80), three days after graduation, and they have four children. Steve (West Point ’09), a Special Operations Army aviator, gave his life to our country in 2023. Chris, an elementary school PE teacher lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. Timmy (West Point ’11), a retired Foreign Areas Officer, now works in the business world in Little Rock, Arkansas. Maria, a small business owner, lives in Enterprise, Alabama.
Gail holds a master’s degree in education, and has worked as a teacher, coach, writer, editor, and novelist, while volunteering extensively for more than forty years. Since 2023, she has devoted herself to the DWYERFIRE GOLDSTAR Foundation, which honors her son and supports Gold Star Children through sports and fitness. Above all, she is a proud mom and grandmother of ten, and a grateful member of the Class of ’81 — Strength as One.
