LTC (ret) greg Muilenburg

Greg Muilenburg, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired), graduated from West Point in 1981 and was part of Company G-3. My experiences and training cannot fully communicate my life experience as a Christian, a husband, a father, and a professional dedicated to my craft of excellence, with my goal to align targeted results through judicious use of resources, teamwork, and time. My wife, Sharon DeMyer Muilenburg, has been my bride for 45 years, along with our 3 wonderful children and 5 grandsons.

While serving the US Army for 21 years as an Infantry Airborne Ranger initially in Mechanized units at Fort Polk, LA, as a platoon leader, Brigade maintenance officer, company executive officer, and Fort Hood, TX, as a battalion operations officer, company commander for a Bradley-equipped rifle company, brigade company commander. The next four years were as a University of Rhode Island ROTC military history adjunct professor in addition to attending night courses, earning a Master of Business Administration and simultaneously military education Command and General Staff College (virtual). Next, serving as US Military Liaison at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Combined Air Operations Center in Germany for one year. Selected to be Southern European Task Force brigade adjutant and operational support to the Rwanda Hutu Tutu massacre peace enforcement deployment.  Battalion executive officer with the Airborne Battalion Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy, with peace enforcement operational deployments to Herzegovina-Bosnia as task force logistician, Secretary Brown’s plane crash security support in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Non-Combatant Evacuation of the US Embassy in Liberia. Reassigned to the Department of the Army Inspector General at the Pentagon, and then to Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH, as Director of Military Science.

Next path in life was CDI Aerospace for 7 years as an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer to work in the GE Aircraft Engine research development field and liaison with the US Air Force R&D lab at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Worked on $8M F136 Joint Strike Engine Augmentor Section, $12M Next Generation Gas Turbine power generator test rig, $10M GEnx First Engine to Test FAA liaison and Project Manager for engine final development and rig assembly for test, T700 helicopter jet engine bearing on shaft mounting tool.  In 2008, I received a pink slip for my services during the Great Recession.

Coming back into federal service with the US Army Corps of Engineers as the USACE Logistics Agency Lead Supervisor at the Great Lakes & Ohio River Division of 48 subordinates spread out at 8 district headquarters supporting 4,500 other employees. Operational support to FEMA during national crisis incidents. Also operational deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan as the Joint Logistics Plan Officer for one year and remaining as the USACE TransAtlantic Division Logistics Chief (Forward).

For family reasons, I transitioned to the Department of the Interior, US Geological Survey, traveling across the country to Sacramento, CA, in 2018. What a blessing to assist my family while finishing another federal career.
USMA West Point B.S. (General Engineering) included a concentration in Geography, which provided a logical means to analyze projects, and leadership was taught and drilled into me. Other certificates include a lease certification program, mid-level with a $5M warrant, a contracting officer’s representative, a Project Management Institute Project Management Professional, a facilities engineering level 2, and a life cycle logistics senior level.

What a life marathon and blessing to have been challenged with so many aspects of personal and professional life experiences. Sharon and I now call Conroe, TX, our home, surrounded by family.
