BG (Ret) Tim Edens
Tim Edens hails from Fruitland, Idaho. Having been raised in a very rural community, he still has great respect for farmers and small-town America and now calls Houston, Alabama, home. He is a proud member of the USMA Class of 1981, graduating with a true “BS” degree – General Engineering with an “Area of concentration in National Security and Public Affairs.” He attended the Armor Officer’s Basic Course, graduating with many fellow West Point classmates, two of whom would also achieve flag officer rank (Dave Hogg and Dana Pittard).
He served in positions of increasing responsibility from Attack Helicopter Section Leader through command of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Germany, Deputy Commanding General (DCG) of the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, followed by DCG for Support of the 2nd Infantry Division, in the Republic of Korea. His final assignment was as the Commanding General of the US Army Combat Readiness Center/Director of Army Safety, a Field Operating Agency (FOA) with direct report to the Chief of Staff of the Army.
Tim retired as a Brigadier General with 33 years of service and is a Master Army Aviator with over 2400 total hours including 400 combat flying hours. He holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
He now works for Amentum, in the Defense Sector. His volunteer work includes:
Senior Vice President, Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA)
Chairman, Friends of Fort Rucker (501(c)(4)
Board Member, Friends of Army Aviation (501(c)(3)
Board Member, Army Aviation Museum Foundation (501(c)(3)
Tim met and married the former Leslie Brassard during his first duty assignment at Fort Riley, Kansas in 1985. They would move 19 times and have five children who were and remain each other’s best friends through life as Army Brats, and now as parents, aunts, and uncles. The “Edens Gang” is currently spread between Birmingham, Alabama; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Chambersburg and Mountville, Pennsylvania; and West Point, New York. Leslie and Tim enjoy spoiling their 9 grandchildren and encouraging continued production!
