History:
Born in Colorado Springs, CO, Dan has 36 years of experience leading military and nonprofit organizations. A graduate of Airborne, Air-Assault, Jungle and Ranger School, he commanded at every level platoon, company, battalion, brigade and three different divisions, two of which were nationwide commands. He led the successful activation of the 76th Operational Response Command a two-star command that is the Army Reserve’s only response command for homeland defense. Currently he serves as the Reserve Forces Director for NORTHCOM/Norad at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. 
 
Dan started and pastored three churches in Oregon and performed in concerts across the country.  Through his nonprofit, First Cause, launched in 2000, he has successfully trained senior military, political, business and religious leaders both nationally and internationally.  In 2012, he founded VetREST, a nonprofit expanding with new chapters across the country.  VetREST specializes in providing coaches for veterans suffering from post traumatic stress (PTS).  In 2014 by the invitation of the president of Uganda, he brought his leadership training to their political, military, business and religious leaders
 
Dan enjoys helping organizations solve problems, utilize Strengthsfinder, employ servant leadership and build strong character.  Strong in ethics and in building high esprit and morale he addresses many audiences both internationally and nationally on leadership and character development and is a sought-after motivational speaker.  He and his wife, Kathleen, live in Colorado Springs and have three children and three grandchildren.  An avid runner/hiker, he enjoys exercising his two dogs, reading, shooting hoops and playing games with the grandkids.
 
Honors and Achievements:
Dan is a graduate of Ranger, Airborne , Air Assault, Jungle, and Rappel Master schools, earned the Expert Infantryman Badge and received the Distinguished Service Medal.
He is the author of eight books: I Keep Asking, I Pray Also, Lost on Mount Fuji, Something to Think About . . . in Reveration, Climbing Higher . . . in Reveration, The Strong Leader’s Hand, The Weak Leader’s Fist, and Escape to Ohadi
He has seven CDs of original music:  Seasons Ending, Salt, Choices, Of Seen and Unseen, Evidence, Where Were You and See His Star

Dan is the Founder and serves as the Chairman on the Board of Advisors for VetREST.  He is active in promoting the healing of veterans suffering from post traumatic stress (PTS).  He also leads the West Point Rocky Mountain Chapter for the class of 1981.  ​
